San Diego Pride Announces Board Appointment

San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride has announced the election of Carl L. Worrell to its Board of Directors.

Worrell is the corporate controller for Retail Pro Inc., and earned his degree in business administration at Western Illinois University. He brings to the Pride board more than 25 years of finance and accounting experience including several years in senior management for other non-profit organizations.

"In addition to Carl's enthusiasm and desire to get involved, we are pleased to add his finance and accounting talents to the board's knowledge base," said Pride Board Chair Philip Princetta.

The board is the governing body that oversees San Diego LGBT Pride as a nonprofit organization, while the Pride production committee is tasked with organizing the San Diego Pride community-enhancement activities, which include the annual parade and festival.

The board is seeking diversity and gender parity as it continues recruiting new board members with backgrounds or skills in legal affairs, public relations, development or banking fields.

The San Diego Pride celebration is the city's largest civic and cultural event that brings together lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, as well as their supporters. The year's Pride weekend is scheduled for July 18-19. The festivities include a mile-long parade down University Avenue in Hillcrest at 11:00 a.m., July 18, and a two-day festival on July 18-19, featuring multiple performance stages, local community organizations, arts and crafts, employee groups, and food and beverage gardens.
